Last month, to close out the summer, our Fun House room went on it's first field trip. We walked to our local RCMP detachment and got a sneak peek behind the scenes into keeping Spirtiwood safe.
We arrived at the front door and were greeted by Constables, Corporals and the lovely ladies in the front office and everyone was introduced. But, enough of the boring stuff, the kids quickly asked to see the cells and prisoners (there were none available to interrogate so we settled for just seeing the cells). After a discussion about how different the real cells look compared to the cartoon bars the kids all tried their hand at locking the cells with the BIG key the real officers use.
We followed the "tour" down to the guard's room and everyone was given their very own finger print book mark complete with personal print to take home and then we were off to investigate the Corporals office. He was busy at work and we didnt want to keep him from justice, so we made our way out back to sit in a real police truck. Light's flashing and all.
After a quick picture with the truck...

We headed back in and all received a cool "goody bag" from one of the front office ladies including a colouring/activity book, tattoos, and stickers.
We got a nice photo in our new "official" police hats, bet you cant even tell who's the kids and who's the real officers ;)

Then we thanked everyone and walked back two by two to spend the rest of the day taking turns being the officer and criminals practicing for when we are all grown up.
Constable Love and Laughter signing off.
